Moscow: An AFC futsal development team has completed a four-day Futsal Benchmark Study Visit to Russia as part of an exchange programme in cooperation with UEFA.
The aim of the AFC/UEFA Benchmark Study Visit was to develop and improve futsal further in Asia and to learn from another confederation.
The visit under the AFC Futsal Development Programme started with a meeting at the Russian Futsal Association (AMFR) headquarters situated within the Russian Football Union building.
The AFC delegation was led by its Director of Futsal and Beach Soccer Development Ali Targholizade with UEFA Futsal Coaching Instructor Sergey Skorovich also part of the visiting delegates.
AMFR president Emil Aliev gave a warm welcome to the AFC delegation. Also present at the meeting were AMFR Honorary President Semen Andreev, national coaches and representatives of various AMFR departments.
The AFC delegation was given a presentation by AMFR underlining the organisational structures of futsal in Russia, touching on components such as administration, competitions and media.
Ali thanked the AMFR for their hospitality in Russia and made a presentation to the AMFR on AFC’s current futsal status, highlighting all of its futsal competitions, components of the AFC Futsal Development Programme and the progress of Asian futsal.
In the first few days, the AFC delegation visited two of Europe’s pioneer futsal clubs, Dina and Mytischi, both of whom had impressive academy programmes for young futsal players.
The delegation also had the opportunity to observe the operation of the AMFR International Women’s Victory Day tournament that consisted of the teams of Iran, Spain and Russia.
The AFC delegation continued the visit in Russia with an observation of the highly regarded Russian Futsal Super League playoff match between Dina and Tyumen.
The AFC/UEFA Futsal Benchmark Study will continue with a visit to Spain this week.
