After we arrived in Holland on Monday 25th August, for the new players it was tough to play directly with a jetlag on Wednesday against Gelko Hasselt; one of the top teams from the Belgium Futsal League. After a difficult first half we finally won 2-3, a nice achievement.
The second game was against FC Malle, also a Belgium first division team. It should have been easier but it was not: I switched the blocks and gave the new players more play time. Despite the 2-4 lead two minutes before the end, finally it became draw 4-4.
Our third game was against Groene Ster in Vlissingen. The long trip and being the third game in four days was clearly noticeable here. We had to strugle to stay afloat. Groene Ster, who has some very good players in their squad made it very hard for us and they deserved a draw but we won 1-2.
Sunday was a well deserved restday for the boys and they could shop and enjoy the Preuvenemint to their hearts content in Maastricht. Something they really needed for the upcoming game against FC Eindhoven/VDL from Einhoven; the Dutch champion for already four years in a row.
Despite that it was the fourth game in six days we kept on our feet. At half time it was 3-1 for us but in the second half they defended too much on our own half and FC Eindhoven/VDL came back to 3-3. We also missed some great chances, but in total I had to compliment them.
After the Europe trip it is time now to draw up the balance and form the selection for the AFF Tournament, which will take place from 20-29 th September in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
