Last week again preliminary rounds in the new UEFA Nations Football League were played. I’ve said years ago that to my opinion the pots, who are classified at the draws, aren’t fair.
The ranking was decisive but therefore countries in the lower regions could never draw countries who they might could beat. In the new Nations League you play against countries who are close to your ranking.
All of a sudden you see that Gibraltar wins two games and Malta plays draw against Azerbaijan. This is very important for the confidence of the players and even for the associations. Being promoted or relegated is now much more fair and with a focused policy you can climb step by step the ladder. Who knows where Andorra, Gibraltar and Malta then can end.
This would also be very good for Futsal where we still play in the old draw system.
